Once we had school areas narrowed down, we focused on neighborhood safety. I wanted a neighborhood where I would feel safe letting my kids play. I went and got crime statistics for the areas I was looking at, and I also visited the neighborhoods I was looking at. Walking around a bit to get a feel for the people in an area can tell you a lot.
Since healthcare was another big priority for us, we also looked into whether there were good doctors and dentists that would take our insurance. I also wanted to not be too far from an emergency room, in case of an issue. Knowing how far it is to the nearest hospital is important. Another aspect of health that we wanted to make sure of, was convenient access to a gym. It’s all part of keeping healthy!
